1. Who we are
SOLO Transport is a trading brand of JWC Stoke Ltd. Contact: 57 Housefield Road, Stoke-on-Trent, ST2 0DA, United Kingdom; info@solotransport.co.uk; +44 7759 880 580.
2. Booking and contract
A booking request is based on the route points, vehicle, loading date, time requirements, shipment information, contact details, extras and payment method supplied by the customer. A contract is formed when SOLO confirms the booking. Any material change after confirmation may require a revised price or availability check.
- The route price uses only customer-entered pickup and delivery points.
- The SOLO contact address is not added to customer route mileage.
- Prices are shown in GBP and no VAT is added while JWC Stoke Ltd is not VAT registered.
3. Customer responsibilities
- Provide accurate postcodes, full addresses, contacts, shipment description, weight and dimensions.
- Ensure goods are lawfully owned or the customer has authority to arrange their transport.
- Package and secure goods appropriately for road transport unless a separate packing service is expressly agreed.
- Provide safe and lawful vehicle access at collection and delivery.
- Ensure required loading or unloading assistance is available where the consignment cannot safely be handled by the driver alone.
- Tell SOLO before booking about fragile, high-value, unusual, hazardous, temperature-sensitive or otherwise restricted goods.
4. Goods we may refuse
SOLO may refuse goods that are illegal, unsafe, inadequately packaged, materially different from the booking description, outside the selected vehicle limits, or require licences, specialist equipment or controls that have not been agreed.
- Illegal goods or controlled substances carried without lawful authority
- Explosives, dangerous chemicals or hazardous materials unless specifically agreed and legally compliant
- Live animals
- Cash, negotiable instruments, precious metals, jewellery or exceptionally high-value items unless accepted in writing
- Perishable or temperature-controlled goods unless the required transport conditions are agreed
5. Vehicles and loading limits
The customer must select a vehicle suitable for the actual consignment. Published size and weight limits are maximum operational limits and do not guarantee that every item of the stated dimensions can be loaded where its shape, packaging or loading method prevents safe carriage.
6. Collection, delivery and waiting
SOLO will perform the service with reasonable care and skill. Agreed fixed times or time windows form part of the booking where confirmed. Other collection or delivery indications are operational targets rather than guarantees.
- 60 minutes total loading, unloading and waiting time are included unless the booking states otherwise.
- Each additional started hour is charged at £40 unless a different written account rate applies.
- If access is impossible, contacts are unavailable, goods are not ready or loading is unsafe, SOLO may wait, rearrange or treat the attendance as a failed collection/delivery and charge reasonable additional costs.
7. Delays and events outside reasonable control
Traffic incidents, road closures, severe weather, breakdowns, emergency restrictions, accidents, industrial action and other events genuinely outside reasonable control can affect collection or delivery. SOLO will take reasonable steps to communicate material delays and reduce disruption. Nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Price and payment
- The confirmed booking price includes the selected transport service and any chosen extras.
- Business customers may be offered Pay by Bank, bank transfer and, for approved logged-in accounts, 7-day business-account terms.
- Private customers may be offered Pay by Bank and cash at collection or delivery. Optional online card payment may also be offered when a card-payment provider is enabled.
- Pay by Bank means an online bank-to-bank payment initiated through the payment provider made available at checkout. Availability and processing time can depend on the customer’s bank and the provider.
- Cash-at-collection or cash-at-delivery bookings remain payable at the selected stage.
- Overdue business invoices may be pursued in accordance with the applicable contract and law.
9. Cancellation
Cancellation is governed by the SOLO Cancellation Policy. For consumer bookings for transport of goods on a specific date or period, the statutory 14-day cooling-off right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations does not generally apply. Any separate statutory right that does apply remains unaffected.
10. Proof of delivery
A completed delivery may include recipient name, electronic signature, delivery photo and timestamp. The POD records what was captured at delivery; it does not by itself determine liability for a later dispute about loss, damage or service quality.
11. Loss, damage and liability
Customers should report suspected loss or damage promptly and preserve the goods, packaging, photographs, receipts and other evidence needed to assess the matter. Liability depends on the circumstances, applicable law, the booking terms and any insurance cover actually in force. SOLO does not use this website wording to exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Consumer statutory rights, including the requirement to perform services with reasonable care and skill, remain unaffected.
- For business customers, liability for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, production, opportunity or contract is excluded only to the extent lawful and reasonable.
- Any specific declared-value requirement, insurance condition or agreed liability cap must be communicated as part of the applicable booking or business agreement; this page does not invent a hidden cap.
12. Complaints and claims
Complaints and claims are handled under the SOLO Claims and Complaints Policy. Customers should quote the booking number and provide enough information for an investigation.
13. Data protection
Personal data is handled as described in the SOLO Privacy Policy, including booking contacts, route addresses, payment records, communications and POD data.
14. Consumer rights
Nothing in these terms is intended to remove or reduce rights that a consumer has under applicable law. In particular, consumer services must be performed with reasonable care and skill and contractual terms must be fair.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law applicable to the contract and the customer. For business-to-business contracts, unless otherwise agreed in writing, the parties intend the courts of England and Wales to have jurisdiction. Consumer customers retain any mandatory jurisdiction rights available to them.
16. Changes to these terms
SOLO may update these terms for future bookings. The terms applicable to a confirmed booking are the version provided or made available when that booking is confirmed, together with any agreed written variation.
